Care Guide
With the right care, you can enjoy your Gimlé piece for many years to come.
We’ve gathered the most important tips about caring for your artwork in one place.
If your artwork arrives in a tube, gently unroll it and allow it to rest on a flat surface in the original glassine wrapping. This will help it straighten out and make framing easier.
It’s been a long ride from Oslo, Norway, a little stretching is recommended.
For our Limited Edition originals, we suggest taking your piece directly to a local framer to find the perfect framing solution.

The White Border
The white border around the motif serves two purposes: it provides a safe area for handling your artwork and adds an aesthetic touch we think you'll appreciate. Remember to wash your hands thoroughly before handling to remove oils and dirt that could potentially harm your piece. personally so you don’t have to.
Sun Can Be Fun
Just as with your skin, the relationship between your artwork and the sun requires a balance. A little bit of sunshine can enhance the colours and contrast of your artwork, but too much direct exposure may cause damage. Find a spot in your space that offers light but avoids prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. You might also consider investing in UV-filtering glass to completely protect against sun-incuded fading.
The Safety Blanket
After hours of research, we’ve found the perfect material to protect your artwork during shipping and storage. Glassine paper acts like a safety blanket, protecting against scratches, yellowing, and humidity while being acid-free and pleasant to the touch. However, it’s not waterproof—we’ve tested this personally so you don’t have to.
